 Our Founder

 David von Storch has made his mark by building successful businesses from the ground up in restaurant, bar, nightclub, real estate, brewpub, salon, spa and fitness center development, financing, and operations.  

Capitol City Brewing Company. (www.capcitybrew.com) As Co-Founder, President and majority shareholder, David started Capitol City in 1991 which now operates restaurant/breweries in three locations in Washington, DC, and Virginia.

VIDA Fitness (www.vidafitness.com) is a high-end full-service fitness concept where a member can work on his/her body, mind and spirit to achieve a fuller and more balanced life.  David opened VIDA Fitness at the Verizon Center in August 2006. VIIDA now operates in three locations in Logan Circle and in the Renaissance Hotel.  In October 2008, Aura Spa (http://www.auraspa.net/) was added to the VIDA concept to bring an authentic spa experience to the VDA and Bang customer base.

Bang Salon (www.bangsalon.com) is a high-energy, high volume moderately priced salon and in Washington, DC.  David partnered with Nikki Esoldo and together opened Bang on U Street in 2001.  Bang teamed up with VIDA Fitness and opened its second location at the Verizon Center in August 2006 and its location in Logan Circle in October 2008.

Café 1612 (www.cafe1612.com) was created to offer a stylized and healthy café for the community. Opened in 2003 at 1612 U Street, Café 1612 has become a gathering place for the neighborhood. Café 1612 is wholly-owned by Capitol City Brewing Company.

1612 U Street NW Building.  In 1995, David redeveloped this building to create a business and lifestyle center for the gay community in Washington, DC. This 41,000 square foot mixed use office/retail/restaurant building contains 10,000 sq feet of professional community-owned businesses, Café 1612, Bang Salon and Results, the Gym..

DAKOTA Nightclub/MONTANA Café.  This highly successful restaurant/bar/nightclub opened in 1987 in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington, DC. David was the Founder and Principal of this, his first venture, which was sold in 1989. In 1990 David  opened Metropolis Restaurant/Bar/Nightclub in Alexandria, VA.  This business  was sold in 1992 in order to allow David to focus on the Capitol City Brewing Company concept.

Previous Experience. The Rouse Company, Columbia, MD.:  Assistant Director, Project Finance.  1984 - 1986. Shearson/American Express. Financial Analyst 1980-1982.

Education:
Harvard University, Graduate School of Business Administration, Boston, MA. 1982-1984. Awarded degree of Master in Business Administration in June, 1984.

University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC. 1976-1980.  Awarded Bachelor of Arts degree in May, 1980, in Economics and History.  John Motley Morehead Foundation Scholar.
